History Repeats Itself, Sometimes Violently

the latest evidence of which appears to be the arrest of nine people in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio on seditious conspiracy charges. Those nine people apparently belonged to a militia group known as the Hutaree who not only believe that mankind has entered the Christian biblical "end times" but that it was their Christian duty to oppose local, state and federal authorities who are considered part of a "New World Order." Even worse, the Hutaree had planned for two years to assassinate federal, state or local police officers, according to the indictment issued by federal prosecutors.

The Hutaree share an ideology that is common with these survivalist/end-of-the-world militias. They believe that the established government is either bogus or has betrayed the will of the people, that the world is slowing becoming or has already become a one-government system (hence, the "New World Order," which commonly refers to the United Nations), and that their Christian-based belief system mandates their actions. It was such a set of beliefs that fostered the rise of the Michigan Militia, the organization that Timothy McVeigh and his cohorts belonged to and felt had chosen word over action, giving impetus to their plans that led to the Oklahoma City Bombing.
