ReTHUGs Continue to Spin the Hutaree Smackdown as Lefty Plot to Embarrass Them.

The Hutaree and MSNBC Militias

A safe first guess on a case like this is that the Feds have just made up another one. The formula is always the same for them: Find a person or a small group of people who are gullible and bordering on criminal, then trick them into saying, or sometimes even doing, something stupid and/or evil. See for example the Miami 7, the Detroit 5, the Lodi 1, the NY 2, the NY 4…

... The funny part is, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow reported Monday, “The FBI had infiltrated the group for several months,” attributing this information to Detroit News 4, though the closest thing this writer can find to that on their Web site is the assertion that “federal authorities had been monitoring the Hutaree members for some time.”

I’m betting Maddow’s interpretation that they had actually been infiltrated is accurate and that the worst of whatever these people actually did was at the urging of said federal agent.

... But anyway…

Over at the Reason blog Brian Doherty caught more liberals cheering on the police state and recommended a great article, “The Paranoid Center,” by Jesse Walker.

So What's the SPIN at the David H. Koch Reason Foundation blog, and it's Paranoid Center?

The Paranoid Center
How the panic over right-wing violence is being used to marginalize peaceful dissent
Jesse Walker from the October 2009 issue

It turns out the referenced article was an old, 2009, article whitewashing the reichwinger connections of the Holocaust Museum Guard Killing and the George Tiller Murder ten days apart with some gratuitous references to Waco-Koresh-Davidians and Oklahoma City Murrah Bombing.

Hutaree militia arrests and the insidious mainstream interpretation

But the race to define the Tea Party in the most unflattering terms has sadly been taken to a new low with the arrests of the Hutaree militia, where, within the space of 24 hours, the MSM have used the otherwise unrelated Hutaree story as evidence that the Tea Party protesters are part of a radical and dangerous movement.

...

That the Tea Party is being unjustly smeared in the process, by any event at hand, regardless of its connection or relevance, speaks to the lengths that the MSM will go in defense of their chosen path.

It is as sad as it is unworthy of an institution that has for so long been a guard of our Republic, but now gestates as an ignoble mouth piece for a specific government.

Of course "MSM" is reichwinger-speak for everybody who doesn't drink Fox Newz Koolaid, Fox being the 3rd largest news/media conglomerate on the world is not "main stream" or "media" to reichwingers.

Tea Party Hatriots throw Christian Militia Terrorists Under Their Bus

Tea Bagger Hatriot Militia Leader who trained with Hutaree within the past year, now denies that they are Christian or Militia. (Also denies that they were affiliated.)

Group arrested not Christian or militia, insider says

Members of a militia charged with plotting to kill police were not Christian or a militia, a man acquainted with the group said Tuesday.

"This is a group that I would classify as neither a militia or a Christian group," said Michael Lackomar, a member of the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia. "They're really a fringe group outside of anything we do.

"They're more of a private army or a terrorist organization or really just a criminal organization."

You could say the same about all armed Tea Party Hatriots.
